One thing about me is I LOVE a pretty lip color. Somehow, the lip color pulls a whole look together. The only thing that ruins an amazing lipstick is yellow teeth stains. I’m personally a lover of a nice bold red lip. It drives me crazy when I’m wearing a bold red lip but my teeth aren’t gorgeous white how I like it. Teeth whitening goes a long way in solving this problem for me. This way, I can wear whatever lip color I want without worrying about it clashing with my smile. The question is what do you do after your teeth whitening to maintain that pretty smile? Keep reading as I talk about a few ways you can keep your teeth white after teeth whitening.

Regular Brushing

Brushing your teeth twice daily goes a long way in keeping your teeth white and maintaining oral hygiene. Remember when we were kids and we first learned about brushing our teeth? Regular brushing twice a day helps prevent bad oral hygiene such as teeth stains and gingivitis. Make sure you’re keeping up with consistent brushing even on those days that you don’t feel like it.

Best Way to Drink Coffee

I can’t start my day without a cup of coffee. If I’m honest, this mama sometimes needs two cups of coffee to start the day. Since I tried out keto, I only take my coffee black these days. This wreaks havoc on my teeth leaving yellow teeth stains if I’m not careful. To avoid this, drink your coffee through a straw. It preserves your teeth whitening and avoids making future teeth stains causing the need for more whitening treatments.

Floss Daily

Flossing has always been a struggle for me. Honestly, I’m not sure why. My dislike for flossing doesn’t make it any less important to maintaining a healthy smile. I’ve found that purchasing the little floss plackers made it easier for me to keep up with flossing. This removes any remaining food that is stuck within your teeth and avoids plaque buildup.

Add Whitening Toothpaste to Routine

I shop for toothpaste the way I shop for beauty products. I’m always willing to try a new product to see if it can improve the results of my daily hygiene. This is no different with whitening toothpaste. Every couple of months, I see a new toothpaste that promises to remove yellow teeth stains from months ago while providing daily whitening. And of course, I give in and purchase the new toothpaste release every couple of months. Think about changing out your regular toothpaste for a whitening toothpaste. This makes sure that your teeth whitening is being maintained even during your daily routine.

Avoid Specific Foods

Any pasta can be a weakness for me. It’s so hard for me to resist a good plate of pasta with quality sauce. If you’re like me, you have to be careful with eating pasta after receiving teeth whitening. The red pasta sauces can discolor your teeth. This is especially important right after you first receive your teeth whitening.

Other foods to avoid are acidic foods( think lemons) and caffeine-filled foods such as dark chocolate. These food types can weaken your teeth enamel and possibly discolor your teeth. We wouldn’t want that, right? Moderation is key to maintaining your white smile.

Dental Appointments

Regular dental appointments every 6 months is a MUST. Even if you’re a bit slack with your daily oral hygiene, dental appointments go a long way in maintaining your oral hygiene. Growing up, my mother used to make sure we always went to our 6-month dental checkup. I may miss having her making the appointments for me but I make sure that I keep this tradition for myself and my family. This ensures that any teeth stains aren’t permanent.
