Hey! All the way from Brooklyn!
With my husband deploying, I felt it was necessary to move back home to Brooklyn with my family. I’d get all the support I’d need through such a difficult time. Plus, who could resist summer in New York City?! If you aren’t from Brooklyn, you may not know that this place is pretty much filled with hotspots. Summer in Brooklyn is filled with rooftop parties, day parties, amazing bar patios and great drinks. The food is ohhhh so ahmazing! The festivals are back to back. Honestly, I love me some summer in Brooklyn. I plan on visiting every part of my city while I’m back to make up for old time. Yesterday, my mom, Dominic, and I spent the beautiful day in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Keep reading to learn about a new hotspot, see an amazing view, and catch me on mommy duty!
Seeing The Williamsburg, Brooklyn Sights
The one thing I absolutely love about Williamsburg, Brooklyn is the art! Literally, almost every block has a unique mural of some sort with a story. Not only are they great for my pictures ( talk about free backdrops!!), but they also add a bit of artistic culture to the area. I’m a HUGE fan of color.
Where do you think I got the inspiration for the blog name?

A Williamsburg, Brooklyn HotSpot- Surf Bar
My mom and I actually stumbled upon this bar while walking. I would have stopped walking a LONG time ago before we stumbled upon this hotspot. Now, I have to get used to walking again now that I’m back in Brooklyn. Texas surely has spoiled me with driving and air conditioner everywhere you go.
Okay, Taty back on topic! haha!
Surf Bar has to be the most authentic surf restaurant I’ve ever been to or seen. The sand between your toes while dining. The surfboards above you as if someone would really be coming to choose a surfboard to go surfing at any moment. Have you noticed the little hula skirt around the hostess table?
The outside decor is just as authentic. The straw awning makes you feel like you’re in a Hawaii restaurant. If you can’t be relaxed while sipping a Mojito drink with sand between your toes while eating some awesome food, can you really ever be relaxed? Plus, outside has the cutest bench to take your next Instagram picture.
I personally ordered shrimp tacos ( AHHHMAZING!) and a refreshing glass of Sangria. Honestly, I had no complaints regarding my meal at all. That says a whole lot! My mom ordered fried calamari which was actually cooked correctly. Some people over-fry the calamari so it tastes like you’re eating straight from the oil in the pan. Surf Bar’s calamari was super refreshing and light without overpowering the natural sea taste. As you can see from my review, I was clearly sampling from my mom’s plate. Trust me, you would too! My mom also had nothing but great reviews of her mojito. She’s pretty particular about her drinks so that says a lot. Overall, I’d have no problem coming back for food and drinks during the summer.
Fun At the 6th Street Pier in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
My husband loves to make fun of how city-like New York City is. Coming from the West Coast and living down south for most of his adult life has pretty much fueled his dislike of New York City. He swears we are nothing but concrete haha! Contrary to what my husband thinks… New York City has piers and a bunch of water-focused spots.
Check out another great spot for pictures! See more on my IG – A Pop of Life
While in Williamsburg, I stopped by the 6th street pier. This beautiful waterfront was filled with little ones Dominic age, couples, and families. Brooklyn Moms– you’ll definitely want to add this as one of the spots to take your little one. Walk to the pier to work off your meal, catch your breath, or just see some great sights.
Dom has space to run around and get out all of that new energy he has since becoming a toddler. I try my best to make him do crafts such Thanksgiving crafts, Easter crafts and more. But, we all know exercise and outdoor activities is the best option.
That face you make when your mom is about to catch you..
I honestly enjoyed our day in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was eventful, fun, and a great way to get my steps in to lose weight. I’ve been slacking off on my keto diet these days. So anything helps to keep the stay-at-home mom weight off. If you’re ever in the area, I’ll more than recommend the Surf bar and Williamsburg, Brooklyn as a way to make great memories.
