Summer Travel Bucket List- Road Trip Edition
Our household currently has two vehicles. To avoid crazy shipping costs, we’re going to drive down to Texas from New York. Google originally tried to give us a route that went through Ohio, Tennesse, and Arkansas. Uhhhh….. PASS!
I don’t know about you but I’d fall asleep at the wheel driving through Arkansas alone. If we’re going to drive cross country, why not check off some awesome cities from my summer travel bucket list. Keep reading to find out the awesome cities we are going to visit this month before we settle down in Texas.
Washington D.C.

This is babe’s one and only choice. He has been talking about seeing Washington D.C. since he got orders to go back down south. Even though this was his pick, I’m looking forward to seeing the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. From what I hear, it has been booked solid since it’s recent inception. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get a glimpse at this new historic museum.
Atlanta
With all the reality TV I watch, of course, I have to stop in Atlanta. I’m hoping to stop by Kandi’s restaurant. Kandi is one of the Real Housewives of Atlanta and a member of the hit girl group, Xscape. Her restaurant, Old Lady Gang, has gotten great reviews online plus I’d love the opportunity to actually meet her in person. *fingers crossed*
New Orleans
Do I even have to explain this choice? The food?! The culture?! Sheesh, I’m so looking forward to this part of the road trip. I know it’d be an awesome cultural experience. Seeing Bourbon Street is definitely a MUST! I think this is where I want to spend most of our road trip. There’s just so much to explore.
Houston
Drakes’s song “Houstonlantavegas” has put Houston on my travel bucket list for a while. Since then, friends have been telling me how great this city is. Since I’ll be in Texas anyway, might as well check out all the hot cities my new resident state has to offer. I’d love to check out their nightlife and all it has to offer.
We’re scheduled to leave Buffalo this Friday and start this awesome trip! I’m beyond excited. I’m long overdue for a vacation! Mama wants some road trip fun this summer! Maybe next year, I’ll do another road trip with my girls. Who knows?
What’s your favorite city you visited? Anything you want to recommend for our summer travel bucket list? We’re debating adding another city to our road trip.

I live in Atlanta and I am dying to check out the Old Lady Gang. I am so excited
I want to go to New Orleans so bad! So much history there! My favorite city I have visited… would be definitely New York!
Now this would be a great summer vacation!! We’ve been to DC a few times and while it’s pretty cool I think I’d be ok if we didn’t go visit there again, there are other places, like New Orleans that I’d much rather go visit instead!
Girrllll I have to go to DC for that museum too. I was so excited when they opened.
Currently planning a trip to New Orleans, we can’t wait! I hope you have a great road trip!
