When I think about Thanksgiving, I think about ALL the food I’m going to be eating. It’s the one time of the year that I can fully pig out with no remorse. My husband and I like to bring out all of our favorites for dinner even if it’s just our little family. Oh yeah, of course, it’s about being thankful and spending time with family. That’s a given.
With all the food that’s going to be made, some people overlook the importance of prepping your kitchen including your fridge for this important day. There can be so much talk about the dinner menu but very little prep on where the food is going. Keep reading to learn about my Thanksgiving prep cleaning tips to get your fridge in tip-top shape for the holiday.

5 Thanksgiving Prep Cleaning Tips for Your Refrigerator
1. Discard any old loose food.
You don’t need that piece of pie from last week or those leftovers from lunch two days ago. You’ll need all the space you can get. Get rid of the old so you can have space for the new!
2. Remove all old Tupperware and wash it.
I’m infamous for putting food in Tupperware to save it for later and forgetting about it. Just now, I emptied some Cajun Mushroom chicken that I made last week and couldn’t remember when I cooked it. That right there is sad! Don’t be like me and hold onto old leftovers so much that you forget when they were made. Get rid of the old Tupperware so that you’ll have enough to hold the new leftovers from Thanksgiving Day.

3. Take all of the remaining food and condiments out of the fridge.
4. Wipe clean the shelves and drawers with the Art of Green wipes.
Of course, you can use whatever wipes you have available if you don’t have Art of Green. The wipes make it easy to pick any crumbs and spills. This way you spend less time, spray, and paper towel on the easy stuff.
5. Spray the tough grease spots with disinfectant and scrub until gone.
This applies to those food stains from your leftover Chinese food and the stains from your ketchup that spilled, etc. etc. The disinfectant spray makes it better for the hard to reach stains that need a bit of TLC. I recommend using a cleaning rag or paper towel to wipe it up. Sometimes I let the disinfectant spray (like the Art of Green spray pictured) sit a bit to make sure it’s easier to wipe off.
6. The organization is key.
After you clean your fridge, it’s time to put back all of the food and condiments you took out. Be sure to organize this so that you have a better idea of the ingredients you already have. There’s nothing worse than to purchase items and come home just to realize that you already had it. Organize your fridge so that you can easily check off your Thanksgiving shopping list with no issue.
