As you guys know, last year I moved back home with family while my husband was deployed. Who knew that move would affect me so much? The last time I lived at home, I was 18 years old off to college. That little fact didn’t dawn on me until I was back home feeling overwhelmed. Sheesh! Times have changed. I found myself missing the simplest things like decorating my front porch and shopping for decor at Marshalls. It was like living in limbo because I wasn’t exactly making steps backwards but I couldn’t really make any decisions or changes because I knew I’d be going back to Texas.
Of course with my luck, we are moving again this upcoming December to PCS (that means moving for those that don’t know military terms) to Georgia. Talk about the definition of “can’t stay still”. I may not be able to go all out for a house that I’ll be packing up soon. But, I still wanted to feed that urge that needed to see my house look like a reflection of me– all happy and bubbly of course. Here enters my new found inspiration for this year’s fall front door decor. I couldn’t go all out but a wreath and a few knick knacks were well within my budget. The most important part of your fall front door decor is obviously the main wreath. I used to love going to Marshalls or Target and seeing the new seasonal wreaths. Just something about a pretty wreath makes me feel “at home” every time I pull into the driveway. As I got older, dropping $40 on a wreath just wasn’t sitting right with the frugal side of me. I’ve always been a crafty one. It really didn’t seem that hard to start doing them myself. Last year, I created my first fall wreath from scratch for like $15. This year, I decided to try something new. I experimented with using burlap which came out wayyy better than I thought.

Easy Options For Fall Front Door Decor
Anyone who knows me knows that I save EVERYTHING. No seriously, I still have some decor from my last apartment before I met my husband which was almost 5 years ago. The one good thing about the army moving us all over the place is I never have to worry about paying moving/storage fees. So, it’s no sweat to save everything knowing I’ll just buy it again. Decor is one of those things I’m always going to buy so no point in throwing it away. After doing the fall wreath for this year, I found the most adorable fall decor in the garage that I had used a few years back at our old house.
My borderline hoarding definitely comes in handy in times like this.
It wasn’t until I started writing up the post that I realized that my old fall decor had burlap in the design too. What a coincidence?! I’ve been seeing the burlap has been really big in the fall decor style this year. Guess who’s on trend? Haha! I’m pretty sure I got these from Dollar General for a pretty cheap price. I’m thinking around $3- $5 tops?

Last but not least, I decided to add new flowers to my front door’s fall look. I already had flowers from earlier this year ( which you’ll see pictured in the porch pictures) but they are dying out. I’m not sure if I’m a plant murderer or it’s just the change in seasons. Let’s hope for the latter for the sake of my new plants LOL.
Here’s a couple of the flowers I just purchased. I also got a few other colors but I was too lazy to re pot when I took these pictures. Don’t worry, I’ll take new pictures to update you guys.
