I know, I know. I’m slacking with the Blogtober posts. I’m currently still in Las Vegas with my in-laws and it’s so hard to keep up with my blog’s day-to-day while hanging with the family exploring Vegas. This past month, I’ve tried getting you in the fall spirit with posts like my Fall Rum Punch recipe featuring Bacardi Rum and my $13 DIY Fall Wreath from Dollar Tree. As much as I’m loving these posts, can you really celebrate Fall without the traditional pumpkin patch field trip?!!!

My niece’s kindergarten class was scheduled for a pumpkin patch field trip this past Saturday. We all thought it’d be a great family experience if my son and I joined. Believe me, it’s far from easy being a military family with both sides of our families living on opposite ends of the country. I’ll take any opportunity to take advantage of the little bit of time we have together and make family memories.

After driving over an hour out of Vegas, we arrived at Moapa Valley Corn Maze. Keep reading to hear all about our first pumpkin patch field trip with our family and new friends.

This has to be one of my favorite pictures of Dom and I this year.  Since Dom was born, we’ve been to an apple farm in Upstate New York, a Texas pumpkin patch, and now the Moapa Valley Corn Maze and pumpkin patch outside of Las Vegas. Each year, I’m in awe of the beautiful boy my husband and I created. It’s surreal watching him grow this fast. He’s only two and already is the length of half of my body. Sheesh, how tall will he be at 5, 10, 15? This short mama is a bit worried haha.

Want to know my trick to getting some cute pictures with a toddler that can’t stay still? Moms, trust this will definitely make a difference. I usually tickle Dom’s stomach since he’s so ticklish to get good shots. It’s hard for him to resist it no matter how much he doesn’t want to take a picture. His smiles and laughs always look so authentic too which is what I love.

Kiddie Rides At Moapa Valley Corn Maze

This swing ride was one of the first rides he’s ever been on. Actually, it just may be Dom’s first ride ever! About time, right?! I’ve been dying for Dom to get to the age when he would be able to go on rides and actually enjoy the places we go to.  Every year, my husband and I take Dom to a carnival or seasonal outdoor event. Each time, these trips somehow become an eat and see since Dominic has always been too small to go on the rides. Finally, he’s getting to the age where we will be able to participate more at events like these instead of chilling at the food trucks.

Dominic loved the swing ride. His face lit up from the moment the swing ride started moving. He’s in the small baby seat because he still a bit small. But, the ride had horse shaped seats, car shaped seats, and more. Definitely a cute ride that a range of ages seemed to enjoy.

It’s not really surprising that he loved the swing ride so much. He’s enjoyed the swing at the park since he was a baby.  For moms planning on visiting this pumpkin patch, there was also a train ride guided by a tractor. Dominic wasn’t too enthusiastic about that ride. He started screaming the moment the driver pulled off. Though Dom hated it,  my niece and her classmates absolutely loved it.

Moapa Valley Corn Maze also had a corn maze, day and night hay rides, paintballing, and areas to sit around on hay and start a campfire at night. Honestly, all ages could enjoy this pumpkin patch. The only downfall for the adult crowd is alcohol isn’t sold on the premises. Nothing a quick run to the store can’t solve haha.

Petting Zoo On Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

I’ve never been to a pumpkin patch that included a petting zoo. We’ve taken Dominic to a drive-thru safari last year but he fell sleep haha! Thankfully, my husband and I still enjoyed it.

This was the perfect time to bring Dominic to the petting zoo. I can tell since his last birthday that he is in love with animals and more aware of their sounds and appearances. It’s so cute to see him make pig sounds or try to roar like a lion.

I tried getting him to feed the goats with me at the petting zoo and failed. For some reason, Dominic was completely uninterested in feeding or even interacting with the goats. The most he did was touch their heads. The goat I was feeding was extremely happy to eat from my hand though. So, I guess it wasn’t a TOTAL fail.

Okay, now here’s the weird part. All the animals in the petting zoo and Dominic was just obsessed with this donkey. Well, I think it’s a donkey LOL. Bear with me. I’m a Brooklyn girl so I’m still getting used to this country life and recognizing the animals haha. Anywhoo, Dominic refused to leave this donkey’s cage. I’d try to get him to see the goats or the pigs and he was so zoned in on the donkey. I’ve never seen him in such a trance unless cartoons are playing somewhere.

Has that ever happened with your little ones? Just zone in on one animal and just not want to leave their side.

I don’t know what it was with this donkey but Dominic was absolutely captivated.

Our Pumpkin Patch Trip

Overall, it was a very successful pumpkin patch field trip. Dom and I got to make memories with our family, get fresh air, meet new people, and just experience the beginning of fall. I’d do it all over again. If you’re looking for things to do this fall with your toddler, I came up with a list of 10+ activities (including the pumpkin patch) to get you inspired for the season.

Until next time…..
