Must-Have Blogger Tools For Beginners

(BTW, This list isn’t in order — thanks mom brain haha! But all are essential to running a blog smoothly.)

ADOBE LIGHTROOM

Adobe Lightroom is one of the most beginner- friendly and effective photo editing programs I’ve ever encountered. This program has the versatility to cater to aspiring bloggers that just need photo touch-ups or those willing to dive a bit deeper in photo editing with presets, contrasting, and more.

I try to make it a habit to take a majority of my blogging photos in natural sunlight. For those new to blogging, that’s a HUGE tip right there. When you take your photos in natural light, it reduces the amount of editing and photo editing experience required. As a result, I thankfully only have to use Adobe Lightroom for minor touch-ups which still make a world of difference.

A great bonus for this application is you can download it from anywhere and use it on all of your devices. This a BIG must for me especially when I’m on the go and would like to upload awesome photos from my phone to my social media.  If you’re deciding on a photo editing platform, be sure to check Adobe Lightroom out.

GRAMMARLY

Okay, guys, this is definitely the #1 tool for any blogger or writer. Can I tell you why? Even the most seasoned blogger can make grammatical errors. I’ve been writing since middle school in one way or another. Yet, I was surprised at the little grammatical errors I was making while writing blog posts.  Grammarly highlighted each error, explained why it may be incorrect, and suggested the correct term or phrase.

Grammarly flags any incorrect spelling or grammar within your writing. The beauty of Grammarly is once it’s downloaded onto your browser it will correct any written field. I use Grammarly for my emails, blog posts, applications, and more. You’ll definitely want this must-have blogging tool on your side as you embark on your blogging journey.

CANVA

Canva is a design platform to create a plethora of documents and designs for every aspect of your design. I’ve used Canva to create blog images, Facebook cover photos, brand logos, presentations, and more. What I love about this tool are its’ easy drag-and-drop feature and their versatile premade layouts. This is a great alternative to mastering Photoshop.

I remember when I first started a blog. I spent SOOO much time trying to figure out Photoshop so my blog could resemble the stylish, modern look I envisioned. Long story short, I still don’t fully know my way around Photoshop. Canva has easily replaced Photoshop for me for my quick blog posts and easy image designs. Now, if you’re trying something more difficult like a complete blog layout then Photoshop would be my recommendation. Everything easier, Canva is definitely more than capable.

SITEGROUND HOSTING

Siteground has to be hands down the best hosting company I’ve had thus far. Want to know how to measure if your hosting company is a good one? Your hosting company is doing its job when you never have to contact them or discuss any hosting issues. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve had to get in contact with Siteground once regarding technical issues. My website is always up and running with no issues. I’ve never received any complaints with my website being unavailable or down for repair.

On the other hand, my previous hosting company constantly heard from me. I’d receive emails that my website was down more than a few times. This was extremely frustrating especially for an up and coming blogger. When you’re first starting out, you need every page view and page user you can get. The last thing you want while building a following is for a potential viewer to be unable to view your site. Siteground has consistently been on point for over two years and I haven’t regretted my decision to use Siteground for hosting. If you’re selecting web hosting, be sure to take a look at Siteground’s available plans.

WORDPRESS

WordPress is the web software you utilize to create the design and content of your website. There are a variety of competing companies that aspiring bloggers are able to choose from for their website.  I personally chose WordPress for its flexibility in design and its ability to support my desire to monetize my website.  Knowing that I went into this industry with goals of my blog becoming full-time income, WordPress was ideal for me. Essentially, WordPress is one of the primary must-have blogger tools for bloggers looking to make money with their blog.

TAILWIND

Tailwind is a scheduler for Instagram and Pinterest. It automates your activity on both social media platforms which are essential for bloggers. For most of my time blogging, I’ve always read about people recommending Tailwind. I mean, there are SO many posts regarding why someone should choose Tailwind. Most of them sounded a bit salesy which ultimately turned me off from trying it out. Let me just say this. Boy, was I wrong!

After spending a bunch of money on one of Tailwind’s recent competitors, I’ve experienced an instant increase in traffic and reach for my blog after not even a month. I’ll dive in more into Tailwind in another post, but if you’re trying to grow your blog traffic and Pinterest reach and referrals, Tailwind is your solution.

FYI: If you sign up with my Tailwind referral link, you’ll receive a free trial to test this out for yourself.

SHAREASALE

Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. <— I just felt so old saying that LOL. Anywhoo, Shareasale is a directory of affiliate programs for bloggers to monetize the great content they create. Major brands such as Lulus, Tailwind, and more manage their affiliate programs through ShareASale. If you’re looking to partner with major brands to make brands with commissions and recommendations, this is one of the HUGE players in the affiliate industry. If you’re looking to take my advice and begin bringing in the coins, sign up here!

Now you’re ready to get your new money-making blog up and running!

Until next time…..

Make sure to follow the blog’s Facebook page and Instagram profile for in between updates, funny mommy memes, and a peek into my day to day life.

  1. When I first read tips about blogging about a year ago, I didn’t believe everything that I’ve read. Now that I’ve gotten a chance to experience some of it for myself, I really believe them! I have a question for you… do you use WordPress.org or. Com?

  2. Great post! I use all these tools except Siteground and Grammarly. I’ve been procrastinating on downloading Grammarly, but I will get on that. I use Bluehost for hosting. Have you used it before? If so, how does it compare to Siteground?

You’re definitely right about Lightroom. It changed the game for my photography!

  3. good to know that i already use most of these xD canva especially is my favorite and i dont know where i would be without it xD

  4. Lightroom is everything! That is the one thing on this list that I totally missed out on when I first started blogging, but I’ve seen such a major improvement in my photography now that I’ve started using it.
