One of the awesome perks of being a military family is the amount of travel involved. I don’t particularly enjoy being away from my family. But, I absolutely love trying new places and seeing different cultures. Earlier this year, we were relocated to Texas. Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio are literally hours away from our new home. So, you know I will have to try all of them out! Babe and I were excited about an Austin date night idea for President’s Day weekend.
Austin Date Night Idea
Initially, we planned to go to this seafood restaurant called Pearla’s. The reviews were great which is a MUST for me. It looked amazing once we pulled up and it was packed. As awesome as it looked, my non-city boy husband hates looking for parking. I swear he’s a country boy at heart whether he knows it or not. We decided to just find a new restaurant after spending 20 minutes looking for parking.
I never thought I’d be happy that parking sucks in a city as I was that weekend. Thanks to tight parking, we stumbled upon this awesome spot called RA Sushi Bar Restaurant. Anyone who knows my husband and I knows we absolutely LOVE sushi! The sushi restaurant was upstairs and there was a cute little jazz spot downstairs when you first enter the building. I would have definitely checked out the jazz spot as well if we didn’t have our toddler Dominic with us.

RA Sushi Bar Restaurant in Austin, Texas
The ambiance was amazing. The hostess seated us immediately which is always a major plus for me. Our waiter was extremely attentive and the food was amazing! Literally, I could not have asked for a better Austin date night than we had this past President’s Day weekend.
There was great music. RA Sushi Bar has a beautiful outside balcony which was absolutely perfect for the weather that night. Honestly, I’d recommend this restaurant in my sleep. The fact that our toddler was able to join us and it was still a pleasant night was an added bonus.

I’ll have to keep this sushi place in mind the next time I’m in Austin. I’m a flight attendant so sometimes I have layovers there!
