Most of my days are spent on my computer trying to think of new mommy content and fashion looks for you guys. As you’d expect, I’m usually looking a hot mess haha. I am the walking definition of a mombie” during the week. Old PJs, bare face, and a coffee mug in one hand while running after my growing toddler. That pretty much sums me up. But, sometimes mama wants to get dressed up and look fabulous if only for a few hours. I personally love natural mommy makeup looks. It’s just something about makeup that’s natural but glamourous that I absolutely love.
I wasn’t always the makeup artist you guys see today….. JK. I’m far from a professional but there are a few things I’ve learned over the years. If you want a few tips for your natural mommy makeup, keep reading ladies.
3 Tips For Natural Mommy Makeup
1. Always Use A Finishing Spray
Technically, finishing spray is one of the last steps of completing your makeup. You’re probably thinking… okay, so why are we talking about it first? I’ll tell you why. It’s because it’s just that important. Your makeup products and technique could be flawless from beginning to end. Without finishing spray, all that hard work will go down the drain.
Finishing spray prevents your makeup from looking like Casper the Ghost. That’s literally opposite of a natural mommy makeup look. Trust me, girl, you don’t want that. My go-to finishing spray is NYX Professional Makeup Setting Spray (Dewy Finish). It’s extremely budget-friendly with professional quality.
2. Make Sure Your Eye Makeup & Lip Stick Don’t Clash
When doing your eye makeup, you’re probably tempted to get creative. Heck, don’t get me started if I just finished watching some makeup tutorials on Youtube. I’m always like “Girl, watch me work now!”. But really, keep in mind that your entire look has to compliment each other. For example, I personally wouldn’t recommend bright green eye makeup with a red lip. Now, if you love it, I like it. But, this wouldn’t qualify as a “natural look”.
If your makeup goal is to have a natural makeup look, I’d recommend staying away from the super bright and bold patterns and ensure your look is cohesive. My new favorite natural eyeshadow palette is L.A. Girl Beauty Brick Eyeshadow, Nudes. It’s extremely cute and versatile. Both my sister and I are able to use this without any issue and we are different skin tones.
3. Always Use The Right Shades For Your Skin Tone
You always want to ensure you have the right shades. This is so crucial to a natural look! Especially for darker tone ladies. When you’re choosing your makeup shades, think about all the environmental factors that could possible make your makeup look wrong. For example, does your skin tan heavily in the summer? Or, how does your makeup look even under flash? These are all things to take into account when choosing the right shades for your skin tone.
Personally, it took me a long time to find my shades. Even now, I still have issues choosing a shade. Moving to Texas definitely has changed my daily skin tone due to the constant sun. To avoid looking like a ghost, I had to repurchase all new shades and play around with each brand to see what works for me right in this moment. Take a look at my current makeup shades below.
Concealer: NYX Professional Makeup ( I usually get one of the two darkest tones)
Finishing Powder: Maybelline New York Fit Me Matte Plus Poreless Powder (Mocha)
With these tips, my makeup has definitely come a long way from when I first started during Freshman year at college. I always love helping out my fellow mamas and with makeup its no different. Hope you guys loved these tips! Can’t wait to check in more with you guys this season. 🙂
Until next time…..
